Terms of Sale and Use

These terms apply when you buy or read anything from The Useful Shelf. Buying from us means you accept them. They are written plainly on purpose.

1. Who you are dealing with

The Useful Shelf is an independent publisher based in Nigeria. It is the seller of everything on this website, and it is who your contract is with. The same name is on the website, on the checkout and on your receipt, on purpose.

Individual titles are credited to their own author, so the name on a cover is the author of that title and not the seller. Whoever wrote it, The Useful Shelf is responsible for the sale, the delivery and the refund, and the same team answers theusefulshelf@gmail.com.

2. What you are buying

A digital product, normally delivered as one or more PDFs. You are buying a personal licence to one copy. You may read it, print it for yourself, and use the words in it in your own life and your own family, for as long as you like.

You may not resell it, republish it, upload it to a file sharing site, post it in a group, sell it as part of a course, or pass it off as your own work. The copyright stays with us.

3. Price and payment

Prices are shown in Nigerian Naira on the page before you pay. Payment is handled by Selar, not by us, and you can pay by card, bank transfer or USSD. If you are paying from outside Nigeria, Selar converts the price to your currency at checkout and the final figure is shown to you before you confirm.

We never see your card number. Selar's own terms apply to the payment itself.

Selar collects the money on our behalf, so your bank statement or transfer alert may show Selar rather than The Useful Shelf. That is the same purchase, not a second one. If a charge looks unfamiliar, email us before contacting your bank and we will identify it for you the same day.

4. Delivery

Your files are emailed to the address you enter at checkout, normally within a few minutes of payment. If nothing arrives, check your spam and Promotions folders first, then email theusefulshelf@gmail.com and we will send it again by hand.

5. Refunds

Everything we sell carries a 30 day money back guarantee, no questions asked. The full terms, and how to claim, are on the Refund Policy page.

6. What we publish is, and is not

What we publish gives you structures, wording and a way of thinking about difficult conversations. It is not financial advice, not legal advice, and not therapy or counselling. We are not licensed to give any of those, and we do not.

Nothing we publish tells you how much to give anyone, or what your situation ought to look like. Those decisions are yours. What happens when you use the material depends on your own circumstances and on other people, so individual experiences vary and we do not promise any particular outcome.

If you are dealing with threats, violence, or a situation that frightens you, please speak to someone qualified to help. A PDF is not the right tool for that.

7. Our liability

We stand behind what we publish, and the refund above is the practical remedy if a guide is not right for you. Beyond that, and to the extent Nigerian law allows, our total liability to you for anything connected to a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 or any other law that cannot be signed away.

8. Availability

We try to keep this site up and the download links working. We cannot promise the site will never be down, and we are not liable for interruptions caused by hosting, networks or events outside our control. If you lose your files, email us and we will resend them.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. The version in force is the one on this page on the day you buy. Changes are not applied backwards to purchases already made.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Nigerian courts have jurisdiction. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still stands.
